Kompliant is a South African compliance tracker for small businesses. It works out every obligation that applies to you — CIPC, COIDA, B-BBEE, SARS, POPIA, UIF and more — scores how compliant you are, reminds you before each deadline, and, if you want, handles the paperwork for you.
Who is it for?
Two groups. (1) Small business owners who want to stop worrying about deadlines and paperwork. (2) Accountants and bookkeepers who want to run every client's compliance from one dashboard and bill for it. Same product, two views.
What does "compliance" actually include?
All the recurring legal admin of running a business in South Africa: CIPC annual returns, COIDA registration and the Return of Earnings, B-BBEE affidavits, POPIA/PAIA, UIF, SDL, and SARS returns. Each has a deadline and a consequence for missing it — that's what we track.
Are you a law firm or an accounting firm?
No. Kompliant is a compliance tracking and admin tool. We help you see what's due and, where you choose, complete the admin. We are not attorneys and nothing here is legal or tax advice — for a formal opinion you still speak to your accountant or lawyer.
Is Kompliant a South African company?
Yes — we're built for South African obligations and South African small businesses, not a foreign tool imported and renamed.

How it works
How does the free check work?
You answer a few plain-language questions — your entity type, turnover, and whether you have employees. In about 2 minutes we tell you which obligations apply to you and give you a compliance score. No card, no account required.
Do I need to register to see my score?
No. The score is free and needs no login. You only create an account if you want reminders, documents, or the done-for-you services.
What's in the dashboard?
Every obligation and its status, upcoming deadlines, your compliance score, all your documents and confirmations, and any work Kompliant is doing for you — all in one place.
How do the reminders work?
You get alerts at 60, 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before each deadline — in your dashboard and by email or WhatsApp, whichever you choose.
I already have a reminder and an accountant — how is this different?
This is the exact problem we built for. Most owners already have a reminder and someone doing the work — but they're still the one chasing. Kompliant tracks the actual status, not just the date, so you can see whether it's been done and nudge the right person — or let us handle it end to end so you never chase again.
Can Kompliant talk to my accountant?
Yes — with the firm dashboard, your accountant can see your compliance status in one place. You can also share your score and documents with them.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes — it's built to work in a normal phone browser, no app store download needed.
Does it work outside South Africa?
It's built specifically for South African obligations (CIPC, COIDA, SARS, POPIA, B-BBEE), so it's a fit for businesses operating in SA.

Should I put my real business data in the demo?
Please don't. Treat the demo as a sandbox — feel free to test the flows, but keep sensitive real information out until you're on a live account.
Why do you keep asking for feedback?
We're shaping the product with our first users. The poll and the WhatsApp button go straight to the founder — this is the stage where your opinion actually changes what we build.
When does it go fully live?
Very soon. We're onboarding our first businesses by hand, and early clients get personal setup and priority support.
Pricing, billing & refunds
What does it cost?
The check and score are free forever. Reminder plans start at R49/month (micro), R99 (solo), R199 (pro) and R599 (firm). Done-for-you jobs are flat-rate and quoted before you approve anything — no surprise invoices.
Is there a contract or lock-in?
No. Cancel anytime from your dashboard. If a renewal isn't paid you get a 10-day grace period, then it simply drops to the free plan. You always stay the account holder and keep your documents.
Do you charge VAT?
Not currently — we're not VAT registered, so no VAT is added. If that ever changes it will be shown on your invoice before you pay.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card (through our payment provider) and EFT. Payments are switched on with the live product.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — see our refund policy. Done-for-you work is always quoted and confirmed before we start, and subscriptions can be cancelled anytime.
What happens to my plan if I stop paying?
It downgrades to the free plan after the grace period. You keep your account and can upgrade again whenever you like.
Do you offer a discount for startups or multiple clients?
For firms running several clients, the firm plan is priced to scale. Get in touch and we'll structure it for your book.
Your data, privacy & security
Is my business data safe with you?
Yes. Your card number is never sent to us or stored. Your information lives on our private server, we never sell your data, and your documents and confirmations are delivered through your own secure dashboard.
Who owns my documents?
You do. You can download everything at any time, and you keep it even if you cancel.
Do you use my data or contact my clients?
No. We only send the compliance notices you switch on. We don't sell data and we don't market to your clients.
Are you POPIA compliant?
We collect only what's needed, secure it, and don't share it. See our privacy policy and PAIA manual for the detail.
How do I delete my account and data?
Contact us through the contact form or WhatsApp and we'll remove your account and data.
Compliance facts — CIPC & companies
Do I have to file a CIPC annual return?
Yes — every company and close corporation must file an annual return within 30 business days of its incorporation anniversary, each year, even if it didn't trade.
My company didn't trade — do I still file?
Yes. A dormant company still files its annual return. Only a formally deregistered entity is off the hook.
What happens if I skip a CIPC annual return?
CIPC charges penalties and can finally deregister the company. More than 500,000 entities have been deregistered for missed returns since 2023.
Does company registration have a yearly renewal fee?
No. Registration is once-off — you never pay a yearly fee to stay registered. Only the recurring filings (like the annual return or Return of Earnings) come round each year.

Compliance facts — COIDA & employees
When must I register for COIDA?
Within 7 days of hiring your first employee. Registration with the Compensation Fund is free and gives you a unique CF number.
What is the Return of Earnings (W.As.8)?
It's the annual form every registered employer files with the Compensation Fund declaring wages. It's due by 30 June each year (per the current schedule), and your assessment is based on it.
What is a Letter of Good Standing and do I need one?
It's proof your COIDA contributions are up to date. Tenders and many contracts require it, so most businesses need one on file.
Do directors need to be covered by COIDA?
Only if they're employees of the company who earn a salary. Unpaid directors who aren't employees are generally not included — check your specific setup.
I have casual or part-time staff — does COIDA apply?
If you employ anyone, including casual staff, COIDA generally applies. Register within 7 days of the first employee.
How is my COIDA assessment calculated?
It's based on your payroll (wages) and the risk class of your industry. Our COIDA calculator gives you an estimate.
Compliance facts — B-BBEE
Do I need a B-BBEE certificate?
If your turnover is R10 million or less you're an Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME) — a sworn affidavit is enough, no certificate needed. Between R10m and R50m you're a QSE (some need verification), and above R50m you need a full rating.
Does my B-BBEE affidavit expire?
Yes — the sworn affidavit typically covers a 12-month period and is renewed annually.
Can Kompliant generate my affidavit?
Yes — see B-BBEE affidavit. It's a flat-rate done-for-you service.
Compliance facts — SARS, UIF & POPIA
Does Kompliant do my tax returns?
No — it tracks your tax deadlines (provisional tax, returns) and reminds you, and can help with related admin, but your tax returns are prepared by your tax practitioner.
What about UIF and SDL?
If you employ staff you generally need to register for UIF, and for SDL if your annual payroll exceeds R500,000. Both are recurring obligations Kompliant tracks and reminds you about.
What POPIA obligations do I have?
If you process personal information (customer or staff data) you must appoint and register an Information Officer with the Information Regulator, keep a PAIA manual, and protect that data. Non-compliance penalties can reach R10 million.
Can you help me become POPIA compliant?
Yes — our POPIA pack covers the Information Officer registration, PAIA manual and the policies you need.
What is an opt-out (direct marketing) cleanse?
POPIA requires consent before you market to people electronically. A direct-marketing cleanse scrubs your list against opt-out and do-not-contact registries.
Done-for-you services
What does "done-for-you" mean?
You hand it to us and we complete the job: filing the Return of Earnings, securing your Letter of Good Standing, generating your B-BBEE affidavit, registering your company, or building your POPIA pack. Flat-rate, quoted before you approve.
How much does a done-for-you job cost?
It depends on the job, but everything is fixed-price and shown on your quote before you commit. See the services page.
How long does a job take?
It varies by authority — CIPC and COIDA turnaround depends on their processing. You can follow the status in your dashboard, and we keep you updated.
What if the authority rejects my filing?
We handle re-submissions on done-for-you jobs. You'll see the status and any confirmation in your dashboard.

I'm an accountant — how does this help me?

Can I brand the reports as my own?
Yes — reports carry your practice name and branding so they look like they came from you.
How many clients can I add?
The firm plan supports a full client book. Start with a few and scale as you grow.
Will my clients know I'm using Kompliant?
Only if you tell them — the client-facing output is yours.
Can I import my existing client list?
Yes — the firm dashboard supports bulk client entry and importing so you can get your book in quickly.
If something goes wrong
I forgot my password — what do I do?
Use "forgot password" on the login page, or WhatsApp us and we'll help you back in.
What if Kompliant gets a deadline wrong?
We work hard to keep dates current, but authorities change rules and schedules. Always confirm critical dates with your accountant — we're a tracking aid, not the final authority.
How do I reach a human?

Is this legal proof of compliance?
Every completed job returns an official Kompliant confirmation PDF for your records, and the underlying documents come from the relevant authority (such as CIPC) and are held on your secure dashboard.
