Industry risk tariff table · Gazette 54577 / Notice 3910 of 2026

COIDA classes & industries

Each class sets your assessment tariff — the higher the workplace-injury risk, the more you pay per R100 of earnings.

What it is
Every employer sits in one of classes A–M, each with a tariff rate per R100 of earnings. Your class is what the Compensation Fund uses to calculate your yearly assessment.
Why it matters
Get the class wrong and you either under-declare (risking a penalty and interest) or over-pay your assessment for a whole year. This table shows you where you belong.

How your assessment is calculated

Assessment = (assessable payroll ÷ 100) × your class tariff % — capped at R668000 per employee per year, with a minimum of R1,621 for commercial employers (R560 domestic). Lower risk = lower tariff.
